Her art works are either in oil, acrylic on canvas or collages and drawings. Her works are mostly abstract but have a strong connection to nature and symbolic of her emotional inner world.
Tildy's art
Over the years her style has changed
from abstract to figurative and back to abstract, always exploring,
trying to find the most meaningful expression in the visual
language. Her images portray abstract compositions discussing
nature, symbolism and the emotional and spiritual world. She
is searching for a balance between harmony and the challenging
tension within space, line, form and color and in this sense
inducing curiosity, inquisitiveness, interest and offering
soothing explanations and pleasing answers.
Creativity never stands still and always
urges the mind to express, develop and grow.
In her art Tildy Clemann talks about
life, about nature and about symbols, which are the gateway
to the depth of the soul. With various large compositions
the artist addresses the viewer, gives insight and invites
to a very personal experience. The works are being created
in her studio, where she finds external tranquility in order
to listen to her inner world and thus presenting what moves
her inside. In the collages with tissue paper there are soft
strings, which strike a musical chord, whereby structure,
line, form and color incorporate artistic expressions. The
acrylic paintings derive from artistic experimental joy and
the development of strong lively colors.
When art starts talking
In here art work Tildy Clemann talks of life, of nature and of symbols which become access to deep stories of the soul. With the different large compositions the artist communicates with the viewer, gives insight and invites to a complete personal experience. That is why it will be deliberately avoids using concrete titles in her collages and acrylic paintings. It would only constrict your inner world of paintings, narration, as well as studying and listening, explains the 64 year old Canada Swiss artist. Only exhibited pictures have a title, such as “Blue plus”, “Green Green” or “Youngian Dream”. The freedom for dialogue remains.
The works grow in her studio. Tildy prepares external tranquility in order to retreat into her inner world and to create what moves her inner world.
In collagen there are fine strings which start to express sound to create structure, line, form and color. The compositions in acrylic paintings express artistic experiments and the development of strong lively colors.
During almost three decades Tildy lived and worked in Montreal and Ottawa. First as recreational art teacher and after a four year study of Visual Art and Art History at the University of Ottawa, she was in charge of a gallery and organization of children’s art studies as well as teaching adults in drawing and painting. In addition she worked at a government institution to sponsor artists, musicians and writers. As a free-lance artist she participated at a mosaic work in the lobby of the Ottawa Police Force building.
